Artemis Gordon glasses!
Okay, so what have we been doing? Last time I wrote we were at JFK, which was awful. We were there forever and then took a flight to Kiev (sp?) in Ukraine. Then a layover and then we got to Israel. We weren't allowed to shower when we first got in and so Brian and I went easily 40 hours without showering. The weird thing is that I felt so much dirtier from all the traveling than I do when we go backpacking. I just felt so gross. Well, eventually we got to shower, and it was good.
Yesterday we started out with a drive to the northern tip of Israel where you can look into Lebanon. We discusses Lebanese-Israeli relations and took pretty pictures. After that we got back in the bus and went on over to Tel-Dan which is a natural park and an archaeological site. That was pretty cool for me, but our tour guide didn't really know much about the archaeology....so I just kinda made it up. After that we headed over towards the Syrian-Israel border and talked again about relations between the two countries. We went inside a bunker that was used in the '60s by the Israelis. It was a very educational day, but not super fun. Oh well. That night we headed to a Kibbutz (which is pretty gross/dirty/bleh), ate, and slept.
We woke up today, had a funky breakfast and headed on over to Tszat (sp?). Its the seat of Kabbalah and an artist colony. We talked a bit about Kabbalah and then shopped...which Brian and I were fans of. Now we are heading somewhere to talk to some Israelis who are Muslims to get their opinions and whatnot on Israel. After that we are gonna listen to a band I think. Today was def a better day than yesterday. Looking at the itinerary it seems like everyday the trip is going to get more and more interesting/fun. Yay! Anywho, I'm getting a bit car sick (we mostly only do internet in the bus) so I'm gonna stop typing. Here are some pictures:
